I am Hyakkimaru Amami and this is the story of “Hope’s Peak Academy” the 80th division. It started when I was going home from my first day of high school in Hakia. I was walking on the sidewalk admiring the pink cherry blossoms and then I suddenly remembered my mother wanted me to get ingredients for miso soup for dinner tonight. So I checked my backpack for some money, I had some, but I forgot to close it. Then a gust of wind came and took my English essay assignment. As an instinct I chased my papers as the wind was dancing with them, slowly picking them up one by one as they fell on the street. I kept picking them up until I realized how far away I was from my home and the city. Then I saw the last paper, right when I was about to pick it up, I looked up and saw a large, old, crumbled-down building. Then I picked the paper up, right when I was about to leave, I saw a sign. But I wouldn't make out what it was because of the moss and dust on it. Because of curiosity, I took the yucky moss off, then I blew the sight hard. “Coughing” After that, I read what the sign said, it said “Hope's Peak Academy”. Right, when I was about to leave, I was blinded by a bright white light, not knowing where I saw going, I stumbled into the building and that's where it all began.

Passage A–One way to enjoy a healthier lifestyle is to grow your own vegetables. That way, you know they are free from harmful chemicals. Where do you start if you want to grow your own healthy food? Start with the soil.

If this is your first adventure in gardening, start small. Choose plants that are easy to tend and that will grow well in the soil you have. Deciding what to grow is the first step and it will help decide how big of a garden you want. Not all plants grow in the same way. You have to consider which plants prefer sunlight and which prefer shade. This will help with picking the best spot for your garden.

Once you have decided where you will plant your garden, you can move on to planning your garden's layout. You don't want your tall plants growing next to the shorter ones and blocking out the sun. You also want to make sure there is enough room between the rows to allow for weeding. Proper planning makes planting a breeze.

Passage B–It is more expensive to build a green roof than it is to lay asphalt or shingles on a roof, but the trend is growing. The basic green roof requires a frame, waterproof membrane, gravel for drainage, fibrous material to retain moisture, soil for planting, and a barrier that prevents roots from penetrating the building.

Green roofs started in Europe and are now gaining a strong foothold in the United States. The largest green roof in New York City is built on the roof of a processing and distribution facility. It is actually the biggest green roof in the country. Being in New York, it has faced snow, rain, freezing, and thawing. It has survived it all.

The city of Chicago, Illinois, now has more green roofs than any other U.S. city. There are 7 million square feet of green roofs planted across the city. Toronto, Canada, is the first city in the western hemisphere to mandate green roofs on all new tall buildings. Green roofs are beneficial, not only to the environment, but also to the cities that build them. A recent study in Toronto suggested that if 75 percent of the flat roofs were greened, the city could save $37 million a year on storm water management and energy bills.

Explain why people are building green roofs to live healthier lives. Use information from both texts in your answer.

The Cold War was a battle between the Comintern (all communist countries) and NATO (the US alliance) a nuclear disagreement occurred which enabled the United states to declare war on Russia, the war went on for years unsure which side was really winning. The Cold War was a period of ideological and geopolitical tension between the United States and the Soviet Union, and their respective allies, the Western Bloc and the Eastern Bloc, after World War II. Historians do not fully agree on its starting and ending points, but the period is generally considered to span the 1947 Truman Doctrine (12 March 1947) to the 1991 Dissolution of the Soviet Union (26 December 1991).
During World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union fought together as allies against the Axis powers. However, the relationship between the two nations was a tense one. Americans had long been wary of Soviet communism and concerned about Russian leader Joseph Stalin’s tyrannical rule of his own country. For their part, the Soviets resented the Americans’ decades-long refusal to treat the USSR as a legitimate part of the international community as well as their delayed entry into World War II, which resulted in the deaths of tens of millions of Russians. After the war ended, these grievances ripened into an overwhelming sense of mutual distrust and enmity.

What do you get if you cross two different species? Depending upon the species, you might end up with a grolar bear, a wolfdog, or a Savannah cat, among many others. What do these animals have in common? They're hybrids. Sometimes hybrids happen naturally in the wild, but usually, hybrids are the result of humans selectively breeding animals.

Grolar bears and pizzlies are the result of crossing polar bears and grizzly bears. These hybrids were first seen in zoos, as the bears' natural habitats did not normally overlap. Recently, these hybrids have started appearing in the wild. Due to climate change, the bears' once-separate habitats are beginning to overlap. Bigger and more aggressive than their parents, grolar bears and pizzlies could pose a risk to natural habitats and humans.

Wolfdogs are, as their name suggests, the result of crossing a wolf with a domestic dog. Bred for the pet trade, these hybrids do not often happen in the wild. Wolfdogs do not make good pets, however, as they can be destructive and aggressive. Many states have outlawed keeping wolfdogs because they can pose a danger to people.

Savannah cats are another example of human-made hybrids that were developed to be pets. Savannahs are the result of crossing a small wildcat called a serval with a domestic housecat. They look like miniature versions of the wildcat, which is why many people like keeping them as pets. Like the wolfdog, however, Savannahs do not make ideal house pets. They can be destructive, and usually, they keep the wild nature of the serval.

There are many more examples of human-made hybrid animals. Some hybrids, such as the mule, have been helpful to humans. Unfortunately, others, like the wolfdog or Savannah cat, should not have been made in the first place.

According to the text, why are bear hybrids being seen in the wild?

Grolar bears and pizzlies could pose a risk to natural habitats and humans.

These hybrids were first seen in zoos, as the bears' natural habitats did not normally overlap.

Grolar bears and pizzlies are the result of crossing polar bears and grizzly bears.

Which element of the exposition seems to have the greatest impact on the main character? Is it the initiating event, the setting, or the other characters? Provide your answer in a paragraph of about 75 words.

the hobbit

Answers

Answer:

The main purpose of exposition is to establish what the story is about. The introduction should include the main character. While character development happens throughout a story, the introduction will show some of that character's qualities The readers understanding would change without different points of view shown through dialogue because without characters point of view shown through dialogue there is nothing there to form the readers opinion and understanding of the characters feelings and thoughts. In the Hobbit, dialogue is very important for the readers understanding. For example, Bilbo Baggins shares his thoughts, feelings, and ideas throughout his adventures, along with many other characters. Without Bilbo expressing his point of view through dialogue, the reader would have no idea what he is feeling, along with all of the other characters, Dialogue builds a picture in the readers head and without that picture the reader won't have an accurate idea of what the author intended the reader to think.

Read the story Hummingbird and Heron:

Many years ago, when the world was so young that the sun was still new in the sky, there lived two friends. Heron was large and slow, with a long, gangly neck and big, floppy wings. Hummingbird was tiny and swift, with wings that moved so quickly that they buzzed and a slender beak as sleek as a needle.

Heron and Hummingbird both loved to eat fish from the river. Every morning, Heron would fish to her heart's content, eating until her stomach was so round and heavy that she had to waddle back to shore. Every afternoon, Hummingbird would fish and feast until he was so heavy that his tiny, buzzing wings could no longer keep him in the air. Heron and Hummingbird thought they were the luckiest birds in the world.

One afternoon, Hummingbird did not catch as many fish as usual. He fished and he fished, but his line came up empty more times than it ever had before. He flew to Heron's house.

"Heron! Heron!" he called. "Why have you eaten all the fish?"

Heron bustled to her door, angry and surprised at her friend's accusation.

"Me? Eat all the fish?" she squawked. "I barely caught anything this morning! My poor stomach has been growling all day."

The two birds began to argue over who had eaten more fish. Finally, Hummingbird raised his wing to stop the debate.

"I do not think there are enough fish left in the river for both of us," he said. "Let's have a race. Whoever reaches the dead tree on the other side of the hills first owns all the fish. The loser has to find something else to eat."

Heron agreed. They prepared to race. Hummingbird was certain that he would win. He watched Heron as she awkwardly stretched her wings and prepared to fly. This will be like catching fish in a barrel, he thought with a grin.

Hummingbird zoomed past Heron as soon as the race began. He flew so far ahead that he lost sight of her behind him. He slowed down as he passed a patch of wildflowers. They smelled so sweet that he had to stop and look at them more closely. Hummingbird just had to try some of their nectar. He drank until his belly was heavy and his eyelids drooped. Perhaps just a short nap, he thought, as he settled himself into a nest of soft leaves.

It was late in the day when Hummingbird woke up. He stretched his wings and glanced at the sky. He could just make out the shape of Heron, flying slowly but surely toward the dead tree. She was almost done with the race! Hummingbird zipped into the air and flew as fast as he could, but it was too late. Heron reached the tree first. From that day forward, Heron owned the fish, and Hummingbird lived on nectar.

What is the theme of the story Hummingbird and Heron?

One of your cousins wants to get revenge on the person who has bullied him or her for years. He or she asks you to help vandalize the person’s property

Answers

Answer:

I will do it for with them and get a few friends to help if they want to come.

Hello!

Simply, I would not do it. Benjamin Rush had the first citation of the phrase, "Two wrongs do not make a right." If it were my cousin were to act on his or her plans to vandalize the property, and he could get in serious trouble. In many states, you could earn up to a year in local jail. If the damage were severe, and unreplaceable, it would be charged as a felony. The bully was very wrong, but stooping to the bullies level, will not help you in the long run. Your cousin could end up losing important life functions, if caught, like the ability to get into college, or getting a job. Having a criminal record, is a difficult factor in job finding research. I would tell my cousin to think before you act, and choose future over revenge.

Kites: Birds of Glory

As a rule, raptors, or birds of prey, are among the most admired and adored birds in the world. From the California condor to the snowy owl, few birds compare to the tigers of the air: the great hunters whose beauty and skill have inspired art and literature for centuries. The most glorious feathers of the peacock or the vibrant plumage of a bunting cannot compete with the power of a peregrine falcon or the determination of an osprey. Included in this group of hunters, however, is one bird of prey that is little known but equally impressive. The kites of the world are generally smaller than most raptors, but just as astonishing in skill and grace as any other hunter of the skies.

Most people think of paper or cloth structures flown with string from the ground when the word 'kite' is used. In addition to these popular toys, kite can also refer to a type of raptor. Kites have a small head, a short beak and long narrow wings and tail. Kites can be found all over the world in mostly warm regions. Kites live on a variety of prey—from insects to small rodents or reptiles. Some kites eat only one kind of prey. Kites are generally masterful in the air and represent a group of birds that are among the most acrobatic of fliers.

Two of the most familiar kites in the Southern United States are the swallow-tailed kite and the Mississippi kite. The Mississippi kite is rather plain to look at: a light brown and gray body with a buff or white colored head. But to watch a Mississippi kite fly is to watch a ballet in the air. These raptors eat primarily flying insects, so they do most of their hunting on the wing. As you might imagine, catching flying insects requires a great deal of agility and speed. If you are lucky enough to see one in flight, you will be amazed at the quick turns, graceful moves, and speedy pursuits of this bird. Look for them above large fields, especially during the summer.

The swallow-tailed kite, also common in the South, is more easily identifiable and often seen flying over roads. With black wings and tail, white head and body, and a forked or swallow-like tail, this raptor is just as acrobatic as the Mississippi kite. Swallow-tailed kites like flying over highways in the summer as they can take advantage of the thermals, or columns of warmed air, that rise above the pavement. Once they have climbed to sufficient height, swallow-tails will glide, looking for snakes and reptiles and insects. They also eat small rodents, frogs, and other birds on occasion. Watching a swallow-tail fly is a lot like watching a gymnast perform a floor routine. Rarely flapping its wings, it uses its forked tail to make sharp turns, trace circles in the sky, or simply maintain a heading. Skilled, accomplished, and graceful, this bird is as entertaining as it is beautiful.

Both kites are known to eat while flying, unlike most other birds of prey. This practice conserves energy and allows them to hunt almost continuously. While these kites are not listed as endangered, they are rare and in some states are listed as critical. Loss of habitat is the main reason for the decline. If you are lucky enough to see one, count yourself among the few. These magnificent birds are a sight you won't soon forget.

How does the author develop the idea that kites are skillful fliers? Use details and quotations from the text to support your answer.
